Zone: 9 to 11
Height: 0.50 to 0.75 feet
Spread: 0.50 to 0.75 feet
Bloom Time: Late Spring to Early Summer, only once and usually take 3 years for flowering
Bloom Description: Flower spikes that includes small, sometimes insignificant flowers surrounded by showy bracts. (It’s really the bracts that are most appealing in these plants.) The bracts are often long-lasting—sometimes for months., and can be red, green, purple, orange, yellow
Sun: Indirect light
Water: Moist, well-drained soil
Maintenance: Low
Flower: Mostly the long-lasting flowers are produced from the centre of the rosettes, and can be long, upright or pendulous, or nestled in the centre of the rosette. Most bromeliads only flower once. Once flowering is over, they survive for another year or two. During this time, pups (new plantlets) start to form near the base of the rosette. These eventually take over from the parent and can be detached to form new plants.
Leaf: Beautiful foliage plants, with variegated colored leaves
